FIRM OVERVIEW

CRIMINAL DEFENSE

I have more then 18 years experience as a trial lawyer, including seven years as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, first in Mississippi County, and then in Pulaski and Perry Counties. While a deputy in the Sixth Judicial District (Pulaski and Perry counties), I served as municipal court prosecutor in Pulaski Municipal Court, Little Rock Municipal Court, and Perry County. I was also a Division Chief and served as the Legal Chief for the Sixth Judicial District Drug Task Force. I prosecuted every type of criminal case handled through the office - from the simple speeding ticket to the death penalty case.

Since entering private practice in 1992, I have been providing my clients with zealous, honest representation at a fair price. I have successfully represented scores of people accused of crimes in the Little Rock, Arkansas area at the trial and appellate levels in both State and Federal Courts. I have extensive trial experience in:

  • Capital Crimes - Death Penalty & Non-Death Penalty cases
  • All other Homicide Offenses
  • Drug Cases - Federal and State
  • RICO
  • Rape & other Sex Crimes
  • Aggravated Robbery & other Violent Felonies
  • Property Crimes
  • White Collar Crimes
  • Misdemeanor Offenses
  • DWI & other Traffic Offenses
  • Appeals & Post Conviction Motions

I have handled a number of high profile cases in recent years. Most notably, I represented Dan Harmon, former Prosecuting Attorney for the Seventh Judicial District in his federal criminal cases. I was successful in defeating the United States Government and obtaining acquittals for Mr. Harmon in six of the nine substantive counts of the indictment against him and I successfully argued, both to the trial court and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, the application of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines which reduced Mr. Harmon's potential jail time by more than ten years. My representation of Mr. Harmon was favorable depicted in a recent non-fiction book written my Mara Leveritt titled The Boys on the Tracks - Death, Denial and a Mother's Crusade to Bring Her Son's Killers to Justice.

In addition to being an experienced trial lawyer, I am often chosen to sit as Special Judge in Little Rock Municipal Court - Criminal, Civil, and Traffic Divisions, as well as the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Divisions of the Circuit Court for the Sixth Judicial District. As Special Judge, I have presided over many jury trials in both criminal and civil matters. I have conducted pretrial hearings, made evidentiary rulings, presided over felony and misdemeanor bench trials, and made sentencing decisions in all types of cases.

I believe my unique experience makes me the best lawyer to suit your needs in any criminal case you may have. Please contact me for a no-charge consultation before hiring a lawyer. The decision you make directly impacts your future life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness - you deserve only the best.
